Route 453 Artics

Stagecoach 23011 seen on the 453 at New Cross Station, just about to turn into Amersham Road one way system. Saturday 22 March 2003. These buses were to have been classed MA, which would have made this bus MA11. Stagecoach however adopted a different classification system, so they became class 23 instead.

Stagecoach 23014 Just passing under the railway bridges at Thurston Road, Lewisham. The 453 runs empty between Deptford and Lewisham, as there is nowhere to turn around in Deptford until an interchange is built at the DLR station. The nearest railway bridge in the photograph is on the Lewisham to Nunhead line. The second is between Lewisham and St Johns. Another railway line runs beyond the wall on the left of the picture. It runs between Hither Green and St Johns.

Stagecoach 23032. Another short working to the Elephant & Castle of route 453. Seen here in New Cross Road, Deptford, just short of New Cross Station. These buses and those on route 436 are  'cash-less', meaning you need to buy your ticket before you board. from ticket machines at the bus stops. In this photograph a red ticket machine can be seen at the bus stop on each side of the road.
