| RM 932. WLT 932 on service 180 at Grovebury Road, Abbey Estate, Abbey
Wood. In front of the bus is the turning circle. This was used in the early
days of Abbey Estate bus route 177a. It ran from Grovebury Road to Woolwich.
It was still used as a short turn for the 180 as can be seen in the picture,
this bus (RM 326) is running shorts to Woolwich.
This bus is from Catford Garage TL. The 180 route was Abbey Wood via Abbey Estate - Woolwich - Greenwich - Lewisham - Catford - Lower Sydenham Station. September 1970. Photograph John King. |
| Not a regular turning place for the 180, but sometimes buses were terminated
here due to late running. Now and again if the traffic was really bad in
the Greenwich area due to a problem in the Blackwall Tunnel a bus would
work a couple of shorts to Woolwich to save them being caught up in traffic
and provide a service to the estate. Here RM 326 awaits a return to Woolwich.
