Well Hall Canteen


A look inside London Transport's Well Hall canteen, which was situated in the bus station adjacent to Eltham Well Hall Station. Run by Sidcup garage mostly for meal relief for SP staff. AW had a couple of evening meal breaks there. Other staff used the facility for the essential cuppa between journeys. The crew in the foreground are from AW.

The canteen and bus station were opened on 1 July 1952, and demolishes in 1985 to make way for the new Rochester Way relief road. All that is left now is a large hole in the ground with the road below.
